Overview
A property management company responsible for a multi-tenant office building in South Jersey contacted Systems Integrations after ongoing problems with building access and security. Their existing setup relied on a timed door unlock schedule at the main entrance, which created repeated issues for tenants arriving after hours.
Systems Integrations designed and installed a cloud-based card access control system and cloud-based video surveillance, giving the property manager 24/7 control and visibility without relying on after-hours staff call-outs.
The Challenge
The building’s main entrance was previously configured to unlock automatically on a timer. While this worked during normal business hours, it caused frequent problems when tenants needed access outside the scheduled unlock window.
Tenants who arrived after hours often had no way to enter and would call the property manager for help. In many cases, a facilities maintenance technician had to respond in person to unlock the door. This led to delays for tenants and increased labor costs due to overtime.
To stop the disruption, the previous system was eventually disconnected and the doors were left unlocked at all times. That created new issues, including unauthorized access, loitering, and break-ins affecting tenant spaces.
Goals
The property manager needed a solution that would:
- Provide secure access for tenants after hours without leaving doors unlocked
- Reduce calls and after-hours dispatches for facilities staff
- Improve accountability with a clear record of who entered and when
- Add video coverage to help deter incidents and support investigations when needed
The Solution
Systems Integrations installed a cloud-based access control system and cloud-based video surveillance designed for multi-tenant environments.
With cloud management in place, the property management team can manage credentials, review access activity, and adjust access as needed without relying on a fixed timer schedule. The cloud-based video system provides remote visibility to support day-to-day oversight and faster response when incidents occur.
Results
After installation, the building gained:
- Reliable after-hours access for authorized tenants
- Reduced dependence on facilities staff for lockouts and door access issues
- Improved security at the main entrance and common areas
- Better visibility and accountability through cloud-based monitoring and access history
Following the project, Systems Integrations was also selected by multiple tenants within the building to design and install additional security solutions, including intrusion detection, access control, and video surveillance.
