Why iSTAR Panels Dropped Offline After TLS Certificate Expiration

Over the past week, we’ve been inundated with calls from end users and integrators alike. The common denominator: limited familiarity with Software House / C•CURE 9000 architecture—and sudden, widespread panic over iSTAR panels dropping offline.

If this sounds like what your facility is dealing with right now, you’re not alone.

What Happened on February 18, 2026?

On February 18, 2026, the default TLS 1.2 certificates embedded in many Software House iSTAR panels expired. If your environment wasn’t updated ahead of that date—by moving to host-based certificates, updating firmware, or migrating to TLS 1.3—affected panels could no longer establish secure communications with the C•CURE server.

The result: panels dropping offline and staying offline.

The Real-World Impact

When iSTAR panels go offline, your access control system can continue running locally on the panel’s last known database—but your enterprise system loses control and visibility. Common impacts include:

  • Credential failures: New badges and recent personnel changes may not download to the panel, so newly issued credentials may not work at the door.
  • Serious security exposure: Lost, stolen, or deactivated credentials may not be removed from the panel. In some cases, a card that should be denied can still be granted access based on outdated data.
  • Zero visibility and alarms: Door status monitoring and alarm events (door forced open, door held open, etc.) may stop reporting to your SOC or monitoring station.
  • Operational disruption: Troubleshooting without a clear plan can extend downtime—especially in mixed environments with multiple clusters, segmented networks, or legacy firmware.

Don’t Guess—We Can Help

C•CURE 9000 and Software House panel communications are not the place for trial-and-error. If you’re an end user—or an integrator who doesn’t work in this platform every day—taking the wrong steps can prolong downtime and create additional risk.

At Systems Integrations, we specialize in Software House / C•CURE 9000 systems. We can work with your IT and security teams remotely to identify the cause, correct the certificate/TLS issue safely, restore secure communications, and bring offline panels back online.

We support clients well beyond our local region and have resolved complex access control issues for organizations across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Are your iSTAR panels currently down? Call Systems Integrations and we’ll help you get back online fast.
