“Respondent was also asked whether he was compliant with his continuing education requirements. He stated he did not complete the continuing education requirement for both the 2019, nor the 2022, triennial renewal periods.”
Even more concerning, the Respondent admitted to a lack of fundamental knowledge regarding the National Electrical Code, stating:
“Respondent was unable to tell the Committee the date of the current National Electrical Code utilized by New Jersey. When asked how he is able to perform alarm and electronic security work, without knowing which electrical code to abide by, Respondent stated he merely performs the work and relies upon the code inspector to tell him if the installation is wrong.”
As a result, the Committee ordered the immediate surrender of both his burglar alarm and fire alarm licenses, with restoration contingent upon passing all licensing examinations and demonstrating compliance with all regulatory requirements:
“Respondent, “NAME WITHHELD”, shall immediately surrender his individual license to engage in the burglar alarm business in the State of New Jersey, until further order of the Committee… Prior to any consideration of an application for restoration of his license… Respondent shall: a. Demonstrate competence by obtaining a passing score on all sections of the burglar alarm licensing examination… c. Comply with the requirements for reinstatement of license found at N.J.A.C. 13:31A-1.7.”
